Circus carny
3000
The Circus has arrived, Circus freaks are on the rise protect your families. This Circus freak is a face stretcher and he is stretching his face for the amusement of others or perhaps for some sort of other reason, perhaps it simply feels really good to stretch ones face.
Mule Faced Woman
A oil painting based on the "Mule Faced Woman" . The Mule Faced Woman or Grace McDaniels was a sideshow attraction born in 1880s and preformed up to 1930s. She had Sturge-Weber syndrome and her face was rather misshapen. This painting was finished as part of a project in my advance concepts class at collage. Tn this class we had to finish 8 paintings in a semester and all had to have the same relative theme. My theme was human oddities, sideshows, freak shows and this was one of my best paintings of that theme. It reminds me a bit of Van Gogh and Frances Bacon.
Family portait
Family portrait, this portrait was for my human oddities theme, I had to do 8 paintings in a semester dealing with human oddities, freaks. In this specific one I want a bit overboard on the subject finding old images of skulls. The large man with the scepter was based on a gigantic human skull. The other head was based on head binding practices of the Incas. The one to the lower center I considered to be the offspring of these two and was based on another odd skull.I perhaps made this one more odd that natural adding crazy hair and fangs. Now I think of this one almost as a portrait of a royal family perhaps a family that has a history of inbreeding and because of that has created human abnormalities. Ether way I tried to show the giant man as vary powerful holding his scepter he was perhaps angry too. the wrapped skull was the wife of the giant looking off to the side. The child was the one to the lower center with demonic fangs. Perhaps something was different about this one a glow of evil illuminates from this one.
